GOUV promotes scholarships for pre-university courses for students from the city of Macaparana, Pernambuco

The Council for Social Development, through the Secretariat for Regional Economic Development, received through the GOUV Commission in Brazil a request to create scholarships for preparatory courses in the region of Macaparana, Pernambuco. The objective is to promote more students to public universities and encourage the economy and education in the municipality and neighboring districts through investment in these local entrepreneurs who aim for learning and quality teaching.

The GOUV Representation in Recife officially announced this Saturday the openings for registrations, which will run until February 8th. The course chosen to receive the scholarship was the 360º Writing Course, managed by Professor Edja Moura. Professor Edja, in addition to having a degree in Literature, is also a specialist in the history of the Portuguese language and a specialist in writing and speaking. The 360º Writing course has shown its potential and good performance with students achieving results in the ENEM entrance exam (National Secondary Education Examination) with grades greater than 900 points.

The GOUV Commission in Brazil reiterated this week during the last session of the Council of Foreign Relations that its main objective is the development and encouragement in the area of education and economy in different municipalities in Brazil, especially those that most need attention in these areas and who also have the capabilities to do so. The objective is to not only promote the respective areas, but also to generate income and socioeconomic development in the region. According to the GOUV Representation in João Pessoa, projects in Paraíba will also be launched this year.

To apply for the scholarship, students must be residents of the municipality of Macaparana, have a family income of less than 1 minimum wage and be in their third year of high school.
